Physical Distancing, Not Social Distancing

There’s been a lot of talk about “social distancing” during this whole Coronavirus pandemic, but it seems like that’s the wrong term. Maybe “physical distancing” would be more appropriate. Although we must distance ourselves physically from others in order to stop the spread of this disease, it has given us the opportunity to connect with others socially more than ever before!

Over the past few weeks, we at Catalyst have had the opportunity to hang out with our kids online. We have gotten to meet their pets, see and hear the projects they are working on at home, help with homework, and even play video games with them! More than just seeing them at school for a few hours a couple days a week, now we have the opportunity to be part of their lives. And, as we’re getting to know them better, deeper conversations are happening. Just last week, we had a great conversation with a group of students about “If you could ask God one question, what would it be?”

Please pray for us as we continue to minister to kids virtually. God is expanding our territory, but in a lot of ways these feel like uncharted waters. We are having to learn how to do things in a new way. What the enemy meant for evil, God is using for the good by pushing us out of our comfort zone and forcing us to meet kids where they are: online!
