As we pulled up to the tiny blue schoolhouse for day two of VBS, those little faces lit up! A warm welcome at the gate of the school and a beautiful hand painted banner for Christ Journey hung behind them. From the moment we began today’s lesson, the love of God beamed through these children. They learned the characteristics of friendship and how Jesus was the most special friend of all. They learned the importance and power of prayer and a simple way to remember who and what are the most important to pray for. Throughout the day, they enjoyed crafts and sports that were directly related to the lesson. Of course, our Lord showed off again today. We began with the inability to access any water for the water balloon games and after much prayer we eventually had water! Praise God!!

After lunch, we journeyed to the village of San Carlos to host a women’s Bible study and worship afternoon. We walked into another small schoolhouse to a room overflowing with hesitant and guarded village women. The interesting thing about this afternoon is that we weren’t asked to do it until just a few weeks ago. However, we knew the Lord had a plan and did He ever. Let’s just say that the afternoon ended with ladies on their knees, weeping tears of joy as they ran their broken selves straight into the arms of our Creator. After all, we are not much different from them, are we? We are all broken and need a Savior. In the words of the Ranch Pastor’s wife who joined us for both days, “The Lord used you all to open doors with these women that we have not been able to open for years.” And that’s how the Lord shows off.
