Here’s a theological conundrum for you and one worth pondering:
How odd of God to choose the Jews.
The Bible invites our reflection on this question and many have brought their answers forward. One of my favorite responses is from the United Kingdom’s Rabbi Blue. He said, “Because the Jews are just like everyone else, only more so.”
In our Christmas series this year, we will see how much we have in common with our ancient ancestors. The prophet Isaiah ministered in a time when his nation and culture was in a real mess. But into this mess, he was called to share the good news of God’s Messiah!
