In reading Christian history and the amazing things men and women of God have done throughout the centuries, there is inevitably a beautiful story told of God’s provision at the perfect moment. I remember reading about an orphanage of hundreds of kids in England. There was no food or milk for the many mouths. At meal time, with everyone gathered to eat, the news was given “we have no food.” Lets pray and ask God for food. After amen, they heard a knock at the door. The milkman couldn’t make deliveries that day and instead of letting the milk spoil he was wondering if they could use it!
Teresa of Calcutta sat with the many sick and dying that she cared for. A visitor was there, a man of affluence. Seeing all that was being done for so many in the most dire circumstances he asked if they had funding to keep everything going. He was concerned and anxious because he had heard that there were big financial troubles. Almost uninterested she looked back at him and said, “Jesus is my banker.” And she kept on caring for the sick and dying. I knew a powerful woman of God named Miss Ruby Temple. I can almost picture that uninterested look…past the anxiety and concern….”Brother, The Lord wants me to tell you, you think too much.” The puzzle doesn’t always seem like it fits together, but our Father who is in Heaven owns the cattle on 1,000 hills. We rely on Him to provide…for everything.
Last week at Club Eseperanza we got our electricity bill. We have been in constant dispute with the power company because the bills are so high and we do all we can to keep them low! Ten minutes after the electric man brought the bill, a good friend who runs a ministry center nearby stopped by and handed me an envelope. “We wanted to help with your light bill this month.” He turned and left. Our bill was paid….IN FULL!
This was 100% a “Jesus is my banker” moment. These are the faces that Jesus is taking care of at Club Esperanza!
