What Does “Immeasurably More” Look Like?

This was a day of celebration. After so many years of prayer, waiting, setbacks, and perseverance, a new chapter has begun. But this moment is more than the opening of a building. It is a testimony to the faithfulness of God.

Palm Sunday reminds us that joyful moments often carry deep meaning. When the crowds cried “Hosanna,” they were not only cheering. They were pleading, “Save us now.” It was both praise and desperation, celebration and dependence. That same tension still lives in us. We rejoice in what God has done, and at the same time we still cry out for His help.

That is why this moment is not a finish line. It is a new beginning.

Ephesians 3 closes with one of the most powerful promises in Scripture: God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power at work within us. This is the promise being celebrated. Not simply a new place, but a living reminder that nothing is too hard for God.

God is the “who” behind every promise. He is the One from whom all things come, through whom all things hold together, and to whom all glory belongs. He is the source of all life, all hope, and all possibility.

The “what” is God’s action. He is able to do. He is not passive, absent, or asleep. He is always at work, even when we cannot see it. His ability reaches beyond our strength, our plans, and even our imagination.

The “how” is through His power. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is still at work. God does not ask us to manufacture strength on our own. He supplies what we need to move from one stage to the next.

The “where” is within us, in the church, and in Christ Jesus. God’s work happens in real people, in real lives, in the middle of real weakness. The church is not made up of flawless people. It is made up of people being changed by grace. We are the place where His artistry is on display.

The “when” is throughout all generations. God’s faithfulness is not limited to one moment. He has been at work in every generation before us, and He will remain at work in every generation after us.

And the “why” is for His glory. Everything God does points back to His greatness, His goodness, and His saving love in Jesus Christ.

That means the church is meant to be a brightly lit place in a dark world. Not perfect, but alive. Not polished, but full of hope. A place where hurting people can find healing, sinners can find forgiveness, and those who feel far from God can find their way home.

That is what “immeasurably more” looks like. Lives changed. Hope restored. Light shining. Jesus welcomed.

And this is still only the beginning.
