Pastor Farrell Isenberg has been meeting with a group of pastors in his community (Owensboro, KY) . One of the pastors leads a church that is about half African-American and half Caucasian. The group has been discussing race relations and have brainstormed ways they could work together as a living example to their community that Black and White are ONE IN CHRIST.
As the Covid-19 crisis continues to cause hardships, hunger has become a real issue for many families in their community. One thing has led to another, and the opportunity has presented itself for the pastors and their churches to participate in a large-scale food give away on Tuesday, August 25.
About twenty churches will work together to distribute three semitruck loads of donated food in their community . . . one truck of produce, one of dry staples, and one of dairy. Each family will receive over 50 pounds of food.
But, as Bro. Farrell says, “We also know that everyone needs Jesus and that only changed hearts will solve racial divide.” Therefore, to address the spiritual needs, he called our Cru Resources office and ordered 1,500 copies of the JESUS Film Combo DVD (it includes both the adult and children’s version of the life of Christ) and 1,500 copies of the Would You Like to Know God Personally? gospel booklet.
“Their first stop will be to receive this packet (the JESUS DVD plus the gospel booklet), and then they will go on to receive the food,” explains Bro. Farrell. “This is the first time we have done this. We pray for success and hope that we can repeat it again and again.”
Pictured here with her parents and four older siblings, our 7th grandchild, Amelia Jane Parsons, was born on August 11th. She joins big sisters Ruthie (12), Joy (8), and Claire (4), plus big brother Nate (11), to become the fifth child of our daughter, Angela, and her husband, Huber Parsons.
Post-partum high blood pressure issues for Angela kept her and the baby in the hospital for four days. Huber stayed close at hand. (Many thanks to Aunt Molly and Uncle Bill Parsons for keeping the older kids for those 4-5 days.)
Our other daughter and her husband, Ruth Ann and Steven Craven, made the long drive up to Virginia to help during the four days after Angela and Amelia were released from the hospital. Steven was able to combine this trip with meeting several of his business team members in the Washington, D.C. area. Betty stayed with Ruth Ann and Steven’s two children, Anna and Jackson, here in Fayetteville, GA and helped them get started on their home school studies for the new school year.
Larry was able to continue his regular work schedule at the Cru Resources office and his ministry responsibilities with Iglesia Cristo Reina. We plan to travel to VA to meet Amelia Jane soon.
